I recently bought a Mighty Mini 30q battery with plans to put it in a small backpack. I know this battery is wrapped in an extra protective layer. I was wondering if there exists something like a small padded bag to hold the mighty mini battery perfectly?
I've put together a ghetto one with foam and duck tape (with holes to let heat out). Karl recommends wrapping in 'thermarest' but after reading about its properties it actually traps heat? Will the 30q cells really generate that much heat while in use? Here's what I ended up doing with my Mighty Minis: I went with these because I can't securely bolt on a larger battery anywhere on my bike. It's a with an oddball frame (it folds) and the water bottle space on the 'down tube' is too short for a battery.
Attaching a battery to the 'top tube' would require drilling or hose clamps, raise the center of gravity quite a bit, and would probably make the bike more difficult to fold. The first battery I got lives in (the largest one) under my saddle. I use the little XT60 connector on it to power my lights. When I park it I take the entire saddle/battery combination with me; I can then charge the battery in my office.
I can do a round-trip commute (14 miles total, with some hills, all on pedal assist) on a single charge but there isn't much wiggle room, so I take my charger to work to make sure I have enough juice if I want to do errands on my way home. It was really unpleasant when my battery died one night a couple of miles from home. For longer rides, I bought a backup battery that lives in (purchased locally.) I made an extension cord with some wire and XT90 connectors to connect this battery to my BBS02. When my saddle battery dies, I can then connect the motor to the battery in my handlebar bag and my saddle battery can still power the lights via its XT60 charge connector.
I can get about 20 miles out of a Mighty Mini on a single charge **IF** I ride with clipless pedals on mostly flat terrain, which doesn't happen all that often. Another Montague MINI user here, MsCynthia. You can indeed fit the Mini on the Mont's down tube, using the water bottle screws, AND, the bike still folds as normal. It's down nice and low also.
You'd need to fab up a mount, but the room is there. That's my problem - I don't have the tools, workspace or proper skills to fabricate a mount! I'm not an engineer and I'm a GIRL! Waaaaah! Market Samurai Torrent Crack Watch more. :) I've seen what you've done hanging a bag from the top tube on your Monty, and of course I'd love to see your water bottle bracket installation thingy. How did you make it? Oh, and jakethe5nake? That 4 legged accessory you have on the front of your bike needs some more explaining and a few more pictures. I used to have a beater Goldwing motorcycle, and I modified the rear trunk so my dog could ride there, he had perfect balance from day one and was a blast to ride with.
It was hard on him though, he only lived to 17.Oh yeah she loves going for rides wind in the face etc. The mount is from 'buddyrider' Really cool, I got 2 mounts so easily to attached to 2 different bikes.
There is a pin that you can put a small padlock through when locking up the bike.
