Neverwinter Nights Games Like Club
I am playing through it right now and it is a good game. It has excellant choices and they actually do have some effect later on. I love how much customization you can make to your character and I don't mean in how he looks but how he acts and what his background is. The story is interesting but by the third chapter of four which is where I am, I am geting kind of weary. I am 63 hours in and feeling just tired.
I am getting tired of cheap mini bosses that are stacked with cheap attacks. I am getting tired of poor henchman AI. Overall it is still a good game though and if I were to compare it to another RPG I would say Fallout due to similar combat and character creation. [QUOTE='funked_up']It's one of the best RPGs ever, heavily underrated. Make sure to get the expansions.

Also the sequel and its expansions are brilliant. When Bioware was good. Foossilo what do you mean when bioware was good? THey are still amazing.
KOTOR was awesome, Mass effect was great, the old republic looks fantastic and so does Dragon Age. Or do you want them to become like Bethesda, where they only work on one series and every game plays the same? Well, Bethesda redeemed themselves with FO3, unlike Bioware which keeps becoming worse. Bioware is still amazing. If by worse, you mean not creating 2D Dungeons & Dragons games, then they need to get even worse. I partially agree, not everyone has to be a dungeon and dragons nerd to simply play an rpg and even kotor for some people its complicated but thats no reason to completly dumb down the game. Not only in rpg gameplay, but in areas, simplified story, and length and map. Both mass effect and jade empire have those problems however they are more playable for non hardcore rpg gamers than the neverwitner nights.thats ok but the gameplay is more simple but why everyhting else in the game and all the contect has to simplified and reduced as well? That i can agree on x360 all of its games are like that fable 2>fable gears of war 2 >gears of war lets hope it applies on mass effect 2. But seriously kotor 1 and 2 were fine however i do thank the consoles because they still makes simple and polished games like cod 4. Damn pc gaming is too much: 'we played million games and everything simple is dumbed down and for casual console gamers' Nice logic to encourage get into pc gaming. Fallout 3 is like oblivion with guns. The vats system was taken from the older fallout and just put in first person.
Bioware makes new IPs. Bethesda makes the same games over and over again.

Bioware makes new IPs. Bethesda makes the same games over and over again. Mr Little Jeans Pocket Knife Album. YES YES YES.but it doesnt matter because there are worse crap like fable and mass effect around and with the decent of game development we might not have old classic rpg but we are thru that too, at least bethesda delived a oblivion quality content game in an generation that games from bad to worse.i mean seriously there are so many games to point out an complain by the lack of decent pc games but lets not even go thru there. I am not saying that either but most games in this gen are developed specificly for x360 players. They are all like fable, simple even in level design and story you heard so many times before, the x360 has started a new way to develop games which i think am gonna call 'BETA' They first hype the first game like crazy eg: fable and in the second they finnally making it how the first supose to be in the first place.the same with gears of war, no wonder mass effect turned out in a similar way. Somewhow i get the feeling that the same thign will happen with bioshock.
Seriously and game sequels are more or less the same game with some improvements and diffirent campaign. Mass effect is aweome.
Fable is fun. The second sucked, but the first was still fun though disappointing. I don't get why people hate on Mass Effect.
I hate when they hate it on because it has shooting elements. How is gaming supposed to move forward, if you restrict every genre so that every game plays exactly the same. It is like Dawn of War II haters. They drive me mad. THey are moving the genre forward, merging two genres together.
Its like people just want the same game shoved down their face every time. Atleast fallout 3 has a combat system and i dissagree the story is better than the first fallout game and better than the generic and borring story of mass effect that has been told so many times before and doesnt really throw any twits or keep you watching, also too many meaningless dialogue options that dont change much and fable had a childish story i dare to say. I also remember a post saying:'troika are the best rpg developes beacause bethesda and bioware keep recycle the same games'. Well if you look in the past you like hl and hl2 you will see they are not the same game. I guess its better if they make them similar and on the same engine but some times it feels copy and paste, like the cut half of the game and sell it later like left 4 dead 2. I sorta agree about Left 4 Dead. It would be nice if more sequels were like Half-Life to Half-Life 2, but then we wouldn't have sequels for years. I think it'd be good to make two games, build a new engine, make a couple more, new engine, etc.
Yeah new games are short in legth and very advanced in graphics plus we got piracy, so developing times takes too long and there are many posssible sectors which cannot be covered till the release of the game plus more possible bugs due to complexity.in the past games were pretty long and there was enough time to develop a new engine for the seuqel plus less piracy, but now gamedevelopers need way too much time just to make good graphics and dress up the level, plus that after they release the game it will propably be sort and pirated as well, so they need to make a quick sequel. But seriously apart from quality left 4 dead is a rip off for the buyers when comes to content and all that time in development. But then again all we need to do is to show them that we are gonna pay the price anyway and they will make codmw2 a 60 bucks game:lol. Bioware makes new IPs. Bethesda makes the same games over and over again Yes, I am a fan of Fallout 1, I barely played FO2, I didn't like it too much. But yeah, FO3 was a horrible fallout game, though it was great on its own, and it's much more than Oblivion with guns because Oblivion is a turd. I don't get why people hate on Mass Effect. I hate when they hate it on because it has shooting elements. How is gaming supposed to move forward, if you restrict every genre so that every game plays exactly the same.
Foossilo don't like to be part of thread haijcking, but to this I have to say something, ME does nothing to move RPG forward; shooter element? VtMB has done that way earlier and way better. The shooting in ME is no different from arrows or bolts in fantasy setting. For me ME is a mediocre RPG at best, and shooting is not its problem at all. Btw, if you've played Worldshift, you'd known that DoW2 brings nothing new to the gaming world either. Gears of war 1 was better They were both crap. The second has better combat and story and better graphics and levels and vehicle combat, its better. Now why the hell x360 users think the first one was better? Well i cant seem to understand perhaps the multiplayer is worse. The real strength of NWN1- at least for me- is the Toolset.
And because of that the great user-made modules, the persistent worlds and the multiplayer. I liked the official single player campaigns but they are not in the same league as Baldur's Gate, etc.
Vertex68 i played the demo and then watched some videos later on in the game, i got to say they stopped the demo at the time that the game was showing how it trully is outside that dungeon. In any case is the story good because it seemed kinda borring as far as i played in the demo. [QUOTE='foossilo'] [QUOTE='funked_up'] Well, Bethesda redeemed themselves with FO3, unlike Bioware which keeps becoming worse.

On the other hand i played fallout 2 first and i found the first game pretty borring, still better than fallout tactics but just because my 2 favortie rpgs are fallout 2 and oblivion i think that fallout 3 is better than the first.

Btw, if you've played Worldshift, you'd known that DoW2 brings nothing new to the gaming world either. You gotta understand though that Mass Effect is probably far more influential thatn Vampire Bloodlines. Not so many people have played Vampire unfortunately. Especially the console kiddies.
I don't get why people hate on Mass Effect. It was an incredible game. Not their best, but still great. And the to dankan, the sci-fi story has been done before. Mass Effect does it very well IMO. You complain about ME's generic story, yet you completely forget about all of Bethesda's stories.
Oblivion's story was soooooooooooooo original.
The first ‘Dragon Age’ game might have since been blown away by even better games, but when it was released it truly showcased what a then modern game could do with the classic RPG format. The cast of characters is excellent and there’s loads to see and do throughout the game. As with ‘Neverwinter Nights 2’, you can shape the world through your dialogue choices, including altering your own character’s morality, which can have an impact on the plot. It’s an incredibly rich and rewarding game that every RPG fan should play.
Don’t come around too often. ‘Two Worlds II’ is a huge open world game that’s ready to be explored right from the beginning, although running head first into a part of the world where the enemies are so much stronger that you could probably be called foolhardy. You only control one character rather than a party, but there’s so much to keep you busy that you won’t notice the lack of deeper character interaction.
The crafting system in particular is magnificent with a huge amount of possible combinations to create, and you get to name your creations, which is a nice touch. It doesn’t quite have the technical quality of ‘Neverwinter Nights 2’, but if it gives you hours of fun, who cares? ‘Alpha Protocol’ is a self-styled ‘stealth RPG’ set in the modern world that tries something new and, but is still worth of your time. It’s ambitious and different and for that very reason you should give it a go because it tears up the traditional RPG formula. Not many games have tried to go with the in-depth RPG style of gameplay in a more current setting, and I can’t think of any that try to employ stealth in the mix too. It doesn’t have the sharpest gameplay, but the story is worth your investment.
When you’ve got a grand role playing game like ‘Neverwinter Nights 2’ you just want to get out there and explore the creation that the developers have put together. When the world is fascinating enough to make you want to see it all and find every nook and cranny you know you are immersed in an epic game. Plot and gameplay are important, but for a great RPG you need a believable world that sucks you in, and that’s what these titles offer. Which other games have great worlds that you love to explore? Let me know in the comments.
